Installs and bigger jobs often take two people. Escape handles crew jobs with a simple rule: one lead, one helper.
How a crew job is set up
- Your dispatcher books the job on the crew calendar — the calendar set up for two-tech work.
- The lead tech owns the job. It's on their schedule, the customer messages reference them, and they run the appointment.
- The second tech is added onto the appointment by your dispatcher when the job is booked or assigned.
Why the second tech is a manual step
Escape automates almost everything — but the second tech on a crew job is a decision only your dispatcher can make. Who's free? Who's closest? Who's the right pair for this install? That's a judgment call, so it stays a human step by design. Everything else about the job — confirmations, reminders, the on-the-way text, the board — still runs automatically off the lead tech.
What each tech sees
- Lead tech: the job on their calendar and app, the customer conversation, the job card — the works.
- Second tech: the appointment on their schedule so they know where to be and when.
Dispatcher checklist for doubles
- Book it on the crew calendar with the lead tech.
- Add the second tech to the appointment — every time, at booking. A double with no second tech assigned is how someone ends up lifting a condenser alone.
- If the crew changes morning-of, update the appointment so both schedules stay true.
